Aspire Zambia is an educational platform connecting students, teachers, parents, schools, and alumni across Zambia. Our portal at portal.aspirezambia.com facilitates learning, communication, and community building.

Aspire Zambia is developed and maintained by ORIONTECH ENGINEERING, a technology company committed to building innovative digital solutions for education in Zambia.

We collect information you provide when creating an account and using our platform:

• Account information: Full name, email address (@aspirezambia.com), password (encrypted), and role (student, teacher, parent, school, alumni)
• Profile information: Profile photo, form level, school, subject, phone number, and biography
• Content: Posts, comments, videos, and library resources you upload or share
• Messages: Direct messages sent through our messaging system
• Usage data: Pages visited, features used, and session duration
• Device information: Browser type, operating system, and IP address

• Provide and maintain the Aspire Zambia platform and its features
• Enable communication between students, teachers, parents, and schools
• Personalise your feed and content recommendations
• Send notifications about activity relevant to you (new messages, likes, comments, live classes)
• Improve platform performance and fix technical issues
• Ensure account security and prevent unauthorised access
• Comply with legal obligations under Zambian law

Your information is visible to others on the platform based on your settings:

• Profile: Your name, photo, and role are visible to other users on the platform
• Posts: Content you post is visible to all users on the platform
• Messages: Private messages are only visible to the participants
• School admins: Schools can see information about their enrolled students and linked parents
• Platform admins: Aspire Zambia administrators can access all platform data for moderation and support purposes

Aspire Zambia serves students of all ages. For students under 18:

• Accounts are created by school administrators, not directly by the student
• Parents and guardians are linked to student accounts and can monitor activity
• We take extra care to protect the privacy of minor users
• School administrators are responsible for obtaining appropriate parental consent before enrolling students

• Passwords are encrypted using industry-standard hashing (bcrypt)
• Security questions are encrypted and never stored in plain text
• All data is transmitted over HTTPS (SSL/TLS encryption)
• Access to the platform requires authentication
• We regularly review our security practices

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When a student completes their education, their account may be transitioned to an alumni account with retained history. Schools may request deletion of student records in line with their own data retention policies.

You have the right to:

• Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
• Correction: Update your profile information via the Settings page at any time
• Deletion: Request deletion of your account by contacting your school administrator or our support team
• Objection: Opt out of non-essential notifications via Settings → Notifications

We use session cookies to keep you logged in and remember your preferences. These cookies are essential for the platform to function. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will notify users through the platform. Continued use of Aspire Zambia after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
